An overview of this programme’s objectives and how you can benefit The ten-week Summer Analyst Programme is an opportunity to experience the culture and atmosphere of Morgan Stanley and the Merchant Banking Division by taking on the responsibilities and functions of full-time Analysts. During your first week as a Summer Analyst, you will complete a comprehensive induction programme. You will spend the summer assigned to a specific group, building basic skills in financial analysis, accounting and valuation while working on a wide range of domestic and international transactions. You will receive continued on-the-job training throughout the summer and benefit from working alongside experienced professionals on a variety of projects. Launching Your Career The Summer Analyst Programme begins in June with one week of intensive classroom training. This will include an introduction to Morgan Stanley followed by specific Merchant Banking training. Once you have completed your first week, you will take up your placement in the business. Throughout the internship, you will be exposed to business speakers, practical sessions, and the chance to exchange ideas and learn from your peers through various social activities and events. Developing Your Career Management takes a keen interest in your progress as a Summer Analyst, and you will be encouraged to take on responsibility quickly with a view to developing your experience. To help in this process, you will typically be assigned both a "buddy" and a mentor who will act as your confidants and provide you with day-to-day advice. At the end of the internship, you will have first-hand knowledge of what the role of an Analyst in Merchant Banking is all about. In addition, you will have built a strong network amongst your peers and professionals within the business and have a strong understanding of the Morgan Stanley culture. Our most successful interns receive a job offer for the Full-Time Programme at the end of the Internship. Requirements You must be a high calibre undergraduate student in your penultimate year of study with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English and a keen interest in the financial markets. In addition, the ability to communicate in a second language would be beneficial. Selection Process For selected applicants we typically conduct at least two rounds of interviews followed by a full-day assessment centre held at our London office. The assessment centre will involve in-depth interviews, group and individual exercises and a numerical reasoning test.
