An overview of this program’s objectives and how you can benefit The Summer Analyst Programme, held in London, gives you the opportunity to gain practical experience by working in two main areas of PWM: - Sales Teams: Have primary responsibility for the division's relationships with high net worth individuals and advise our clients on how to invest and manage their wealth
- Investment Group: A complementary structure of asset managers and investment specialists who provide highly customised discretionary portfolio management solutions for our clients.
Summer Analysts will also be given a project from the Solutions Group which they will work on during their internship and present at the end of the ten weeks. The Solutions Group provides solutions and advice, as required, to meet our clients' specific investment requirements in the capital markets, alternative assets and tax and structural planning. The Summer Analyst Programme in Private Wealth Management How the programme works and the day-to-day experience you can expect Summer Analysts take part in a ten-week programme based in London. This will include project work in the European Sales Team and the Investment Group (IG). Summer Analysts will be given the opportunity to interact closely with a range of Morgan Stanley professionals at all levels, in both work and social environments. Summer Analysts will typically be assigned two mentors who will help support their integration into the division. Summer Analysts who have consistently performed at the highest level may receive an offer for a Full Time Analyst role, to commence the following year. Roles and responsibilities vary by area. However, you can expect to be involved in the following areas: Sales Team - Developing an understanding of how we manage the relationships with our clients
- Developing an understanding of Morgan Stanley's product range across all asset classes(equities, fixed income, alternatives, commodities)
- Developing an awareness of the investment process
- Understanding and assisting with the administrative and support functions on the team
- Creating and preparing marketing materials for client presentations
- Remaining abreast of market conditions and being able to provide information to team members
Research - Understanding the prospecting strategy and its implementation
- Contributing to sales marketing and new-product development initiatives
Investment Group (IG) - Quantitative portfolio analysis, monitoring and enhancement of existing spreadsheet and software models, performance attribution, portfolio composition, and risk/reward trade-offs within client portfolios
- Monitoring and maintaining a universe of third-party managers, identifying potential new managers for the programme, and delivering appropriate funds to fulfil ad hoc asset allocation requirements
- Completing specific theme or project-based assignments to assist the IG in exploring particular investment themes
- Business development including communication, cooperation, and support of PWM Investment
- Advisors, who are responsible for fostering, maintaining, and prospecting client relationships
- Providing support to Portfolio Managers
Solutions Group (SG) - Completion of specific theme or project-based assignments to assist the SG in exploring particular products and other tasks related to the expansion and development of the PWM product offering
- Development of new, and enhancement of existing spreadsheet and software models that provide the quantitative analysis of both client-specific and generic solutions
- Preparation and maintenance of presentations and report materials to facilitate effective communication of fund performance and strategy between Investment Advisors and their clients

Requirements We accept penultimate-year undergraduate students with outstanding academic achievements. We welcome applicants from all degree disciplines especially those with a keen interest in the financial markets. You should be able to communicate effectively in English, with additional languages preferable although not compulsory. Selection Process Selected applicants will be invited to attend an assessment day, which will include a group exercise, a presentation exercise, verbal and numerical reasoning tests, and interviews with experienced professionals from the business.
