An overview of this program’s objectives and how you can benefit The Financial Control Group (FGC) Summer Analyst Program runs from May to August in Singapore. The ten weeks of training provide Summer Interns with business, technical, and professional knowledge. Upon successful completion of the training, Summer Interns join assigned departments in a control, project management or operational function. In addition, Summer Interns are assigned peer advisors and mentors to aid in a smooth transition into organization. As a Summer Analyst in the Financial Control Group (FCG), you will be placed within one of the following departments:
Global Wealth Management Controllers As an Analyst within Global Wealth Management Controllers, you may provide financial support for brokerage and investment advisory services, financial and wealth-planning services, annuity and insurance products, credit and other lending products, banking, cash management, and credit solutions, as well as retirement services and trust and fiduciary services. Institutional Securities Group Controllers As an Analyst within Institutional Securities Group Controllers, you will be exposed to multi-faceted and diverse businesses supporting traditional Sales & Trading products, such as Fixed Income, Equity, and Investment Banking. Analysts may get involved in the expansion of more niche business such as Prime Brokerage or Securitized Products as well as new firm acquisitions. As part of the Business Control, Analysts develop financial and key risk-control expertise in functions such as Revenue, Balance Sheet, Legal Entity, and Accounting Disclosures. The day-to-day responsibilities depend on the functional group assigned. Asset Management Controllers An Analyst within Asset Management Controllers will be responsible for providing global asset-management products and services in equities, fixed income, and alternative investment products for individual and institutional investors. Asset Management Controllers is a comprehensive finance function supporting the business unit, including the preparation of statutory accounts, regulatory accounting services, client billing, data management, and business analysis. Asset Management Financial Control Group provides guardianship and controls risk by establishing and ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and internal controls. The group also participates in critical regulatory and internal procedure improvement initiatives. Company Controller An Analyst coming into the Company Controller organization is joining an integral part of the firm that consists of groups that oversee and manage external reporting, accounting standards and controls, regulatory relations, compliance and reporting, valuation review, SOX compliance, and finance operational risk. These groups provide the firm with technical support concerning regulatory and accounting matters, and work with various accounting bodies and industries. The Company Controller function also leads the Legal Entity Program and the Merger Integration Group, oversees the implementation of CSE/Base II, partners with and provides controller support for Human Resources, Morgan Stanley Bank, Treasury, Global Wealth Management products, and the overall regional and branch network. The regional and branch controller provides accounting and reporting services to their respective regional units. The functions provided by the Company Controller teams are firmwide and global in nature, creating strong working partnerships across Finance and throughout the rest of our organization. Corporate Reporting & Analysis As an Analyst within Corporate Reporting & Analysis, you may be responsible for consolidation of Firm Results, the Press Release, Corporate/Segment/Management/Support Services Reporting, and weekly reporting to the Board of Directors, Management Committee, and Business Management. In addition, this group is responsible for planning and providing oversight and service to the firm with forecast, planning and allocations, processes, as well as executing the monthly financial close process. Requirements Consideration for the Financial Control Group Summer Analyst Program is tailored for penultimate year students studying an Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or Economics degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Strong candidates will also possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
